Monday, April 9:  New HW folder goes home

Friday, April 13:  Quick Check Assessment; **Attend 8:15 Mass:  all students need to be in the classroom before the last bell.  We will be leaving for the church by 8:05.  If your child is tardy, you must sign them in at the office, then walk them over to the church to meet us.

Thursday, April 19:  Quick Check Assessment due to Field day on Friday

Friday, April 20:  Field Day (information to go home soon); No Mass due to Field Day

Thursday, April 26:  HW Folder Due; Quick Check Assessment

Friday, April 27:  No School>  Teacher Work Day

 

Schedule of Specials: 

Tuesday and Thursday (PE): children wear PE short and shirt with approved tennis shoes and plain white socks.  Light-Up shoes and socks with color/emblems are not allowed.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday (Spanish, music, guidance):   children wear regular uniforms (no PE).  Approved shoes and navy socks are required.  Tennis shoes are not to be worn on these days.  Belts are required if there are belt loops.  Hair accessories are limited to the colors found in the uniform.

Academic Themes for the Week

Topic: Seeds and Parts of a Plant

Look for their Weekly Emergent Readers to go home on Fridays.  I encourage you to save these weekly emergent reader books in a special place:  a treasure box or special basket.  Whenever they want to pull out a story to read to you, they can select a story from their special story box.

Reading Block:    Capitalization & Punctuation; Blending; Writing a Complete Sentence; identifying middle sounds;

Word Study:   -ee words:  Sheep in a Jeep;  Continuation with Blends> and continue reviewing the H Brothers

Writing:  Completing Sentences; developing their own story:  character, setting, problem: informational writing (first, next, last)

Sight Words:    just   help    have    one

Math Block:   make an ABBC pattern using pattern blocks;divide by sharing, comparing numbers through 10;identify left and right;explore tangrams

Science/Social Studies/Art:   seeds and parts of a plant (life cycle and needs)

Religion:  make a timeline of Jesus’ life; discuss why God should come first in our lives; start going to 8:15 Mass on Friday
