Homework Activity Packets

 

Homework activity packets will be sent home on the Monday of the first week of a new Unit of Sight Word Study. Everything you will need to complete the activities will be included in your child’s homework folder, with one exception: art materials.

You will be asked to complete the enclosed activities with your child during a 2-3 week period. I will ask for you to check off the activity box when you complete each one.  The completed and signed form will be due on the date directed on the form. At this time, a photograph or scan of the completed checklist uploaded to Google Classroom on the due date will be how we “turn in our homework”.

Assignments that are habitually turned in late will be noted and reflected in your child’s Kindergarten report card. If an assignment is not returned on the due date, it will be considered late. Please do not turn in completed work before the due date. I prefer that you use the entire time for practice. Please do not hand assignments to me during drop-off or pick-up.

Occasionally, additional special homework projects will be assigned. More information on these assignments will be sent home as they arise.

Additionally, it will be very important for you to continuously review the sight words presented during the unit of study. Each unit will cover approximately 12 new sight words.  Please take time every day to review the words using fun games and flash cards.  I will be sending home a list of suggested games to play. Reading with your child is also an important aspect of their success in school.  Please read with your child daily.

If you feel your child needs additional review material at home, I do have resources available for you. You will also receive suggested Enrichment Activities in their homework folders.  I encourage everyone to use these enrichment ideas to supplement the homework activities each month.
