Thursday, October 31: Fun Fall Day>  Please look out for a Sign-Up Genius  email from me to see ways you can donate items or your time for this fun annual event in the classroom.  If you are volunteering or simply visiting us for the event, please take the time to arrange for child care.  This activity is not suitable for younger siblings.  Thank you!

Friday, November 1:  All Saint’s Day Mass at John Carroll.  Students wear their REGULAR SCHOOL UNIFORM.  Quick Check will be given.

Thursday, November 7: Quick Check and HW packet due

Friday, November 8:  No SCHOOL For Students> Professional Day

Week of November 12:  Sight Word Review Week:  Quick Check, ***Listening Comprehension and Writing Assessments are also done this week on various days.  Please be sure that if your child is not sick they are present at school for these assessments.

Monday, November 11:  Veteran’s Day Mass

Friday, November 22>  K-I Thanksgiving Prayer Service.  Students wear REGULAR SCHOOL UNIFORM. Parent are invited.

***Thanksgiving Holiday begins Monday, November 25.  Return to school on Monday, December 2. 

Schedule of Specials: 

Tuesday and Thursday (PE): children wear PE short and shirt with approved tennis shoes and plain white socks.  Light-Up shoes and socks with color/emblems are not allowed.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday (Spanish, music, guidance):   children wear regular uniforms (no PE).  Approved shoes and navy socks are required.  Tennis shoes are not to be worn on these days.  Belts are required if there are belt loops.  Hair accessories are limited to the colors found in the uniform.

Topic: Silly Monsters

Look for their Weekly Emergent Readers to go home on Fridays.  I encourage you to save these weekly emergent reader books in a special place:  a treasure box or special basket.  Whenever they want to pull out a story to read to you, they can select a story from their special story box.

Reading Block:    Capitalization & Punctuation; Blending; Sensory Words; Adjectives for size and shape; Writing a Complete Sentence

Word Study:   short /e/  word families continued

Writing:  characters continued and setting introduction

Sight Words:  to   he   like   my  (yes, we have had these words in the past)

Math Block:  Color Identification; Counting and Sorting;  Number Order;  creating and covering designs with pattern blocks;  writing numerals; Identifying Position to the Fourth; Acting Out Story Problems with Teddy Bears

Science/Social Studies/Art:  Creating Creepy Carrots and Silly Monsters (related to our Writer’s Workshop study on Characters)

Religion:   Lives of Saints; All Saint’s Day
