**March’s USA Heritage Map Challenge Activity will be found in your child’s HW folder.  Please follow the directions on the paper and return it to school by Monday, March 13th.

Thursday March 2nd>  Dr. Seuss’ Birthday:  Colorful Sock Day for W-6 ONLY!

***In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, students in our class will be invited to wear colorful socks to school.  We will use our socks during a bonus enrichment math activity designed around the book Fox in Socks.

Monday, March 6th> K-1 Religion Retreat (on-campus)

Tuesday, March 14th>  Kindergarten’s Field Trip to the Fire Station and Kid’s Crossing Park> see paperwork for details

Friday, March 17th>  1/2 day Noon Dismissal, Homework Packet due, Quick Check Assessment, End of 3rd Quarter

******Spring Break> <March 20th – 24th, return to school on Monday, March 27th

Schedule of Specials: 

Tuesday and Thursday (PE): children wear PE short and shirt with approved tennis shoes and plain white socks.  Light-Up shoes and socks with color/emblems are not allowed.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday (Spanish, music, guidance):   children wear regular uniforms (no PE).  Approved shoes and navy socks are required.  Tennis shoes are not to be worn on these days.  Belts are required if there are belt loops.  Hair accessories are limited to the colors found in the uniform.

Look for their Weekly Emergent Readers to go home on Fridays.  I encourage you to save these weekly emergent reader books in a special place:  a treasure box or special basket.  Whenever they want to pull out a story to read to you, they can select a story from their special story box.

Reading Block:    Capitalization & Punctuation; Blending; Writing a Complete Sentence; identifying middle sounds

Word Study:   Continuation with Blends;  – op word family introduction, -ed words (past tense verbs)

Writing:  Completing Sentences; developing their own story:  character, setting, problem: Opinion Writing

Science/Social Studies/Art:  Start of our 4-6 week USA Unit of Study

 Enrichment:  USA Themed Projects over the next 4-6 weeks (some of which includes the following:  Classroom Heritage Map; USA Book-which includes Presidents and US Symbols; 50 States Song; etc)
